What are RuneScape Leagues?
Leagues are seasonal, time-limited game modes in Old School RuneScape and RuneScape 3. Everyone starts a fresh character on separate league worlds, earns league points by completing tasks, and spends those points on relics: powerful passive effects that bend the game's rules, from massive XP multipliers to teleports and combat buffs.
Most leagues restrict which regions of the world you can unlock, forcing build choices that make every run different. When a league ends, your seasonal character is archived and the cosmetic rewards you earned carry over to your main account.
Old School has run six leagues since 2019, roughly one per year. RuneScape 3 joined the format in 2025 with the Catalyst League. Its second, Equilibrium, starting 10 August 2026, is the first league in either game open to free-to-play players.
