RuneScape 3 · League II · Free-to-play
Equilibrium League
Starts 10 August 2026 · ends TBC
What we know so far
Equilibrium is the second RuneScape 3 League, following 2025's Catalyst League. The theme pits Order (Saradomin) against Chaos (Zamorak), with Balance (Guthix) in between. And for the first time in any RuneScape League, free-to-play players can compete.
- Start regions: Misthalin and Havenhythe. Further regions unlock by completing tasks, not by skill level.
- Combat blessings: new league mechanics tied to your chosen alignment, alongside enhanced relics.
- Tasks & points: complete tasks to earn league points, unlock relics at point thresholds, and buy cosmetic rewards for your main account.
Jagex is revealing details through July 2026. This page and the task and relic databases update shortly after each reveal goes public.

Frequently asked questions
- When does the Equilibrium League start?
- The Equilibrium League starts on Monday, 10 August 2026. The exact launch hour hasn't been confirmed, but RuneScape updates typically go live on Monday morning game time (UTC). The end date is still to be confirmed; the first RS3 league, Catalyst, ran for 57 days.
- Is the Equilibrium League free-to-play?
- Yes. Unlike the members-only Catalyst League, Equilibrium is confirmed to be accessible to free-to-play players, a first for RuneScape Leagues in either game.
- What is the theme of the Equilibrium League?
- Equilibrium is themed around Order, Balance and Chaos: the domains of Saradomin, Guthix and Zamorak. Players choose a side between Order and Chaos, or hold the balance, with 'combat blessing' mechanics and enhanced relics.
- Which regions do you start with?
- Players start with Misthalin and Havenhythe unlocked. Further regions unlock by completing a set number of tasks, a change from Catalyst, which gated content by skill level.
- How do relics and league points work?
- Completing tasks earns league points, and relics unlock at rising point thresholds. In Catalyst, tasks awarded 10 to 400 points across five tiers, and seven relic tiers unlocked between 10 and 22,000 points with XP multipliers scaling from 4x to 16x. Equilibrium's exact numbers will be confirmed in Jagex's reveal posts through July.
- Do I need a new character to play?
- Leagues run on separate seasonal characters, so your main account's progress is untouched. You'll pick your league character from the character select screen while the event is live, and earn cosmetic rewards for your main account through the reward shop.
How did the first RS3 league work?
The Catalyst League ran September–November 2025 with five task tiers, seven relic tiers and XP multipliers up to 16x. Read the Catalyst archive to see the formula Equilibrium builds on.
